Loring AFB UFO Incident - Ex-Military Serviceman Speaks

Brian Vike's Note: I would like to extend my many thanks to the person who sent in this report. Also, if other ex-servicemen or women, even family members of the service people have any knowledge about this event.

I would be grateful for as much detail as you could possibly could provide to me here at The Vike Factor. Please do know that I respect everyone's personal/private information.

Message: Loring AFBUFO Incident -- Many years ago while listening to the Jeff Rense talk show, the discussion about UFOs turned toward the Loring incident which I had knowledge of, and I emailed Rense during the program.

I did not see this object, but was directly involved with the aftermath. What I did not mention on the Rense e-mail was that there was a previous UFO sighting during October of 1974, almost a year exactly to the 1975 incident, though the 1974 sighting by some base personnel did not reach the public.

Now as to the 1975 incident I worked at the WSA where some of the activity took place. At most there were about 60 airmen that worked in the secluded and secure area, and the area itself was guarded by about 8 security police (SPs) around the clock.

One morning, myself and 5 others arrived at the gate to the WSA before the rest and I noted something was wrong because all the SPs were waiting for us on the other side of the gate.

Usually some were in the guard shack and others were driving around the WSA, upon exchanging our badges, the SP's became notably shaken and somewhat frantic and began telling us of the UFO that hovered over our structures ( Igloo's with weapons inside).

The SP who spoke directly to me said this object was of the two pie pan type, glowed an orange color and shone a green beam in a searching type of manner over and around our structures.

He also said they radioed their headquarters back on main base and requested permission to fire their M-16's upon a UFO that was hovering over the structures.

This SP's began telling of other events about the object. I stopped him and asked what the headquarters said, he replied that they didn't get an rapid reply, or something to that affect and kept asking for permission to fire upon it.

Later he received an order not to fire upon the object unless it performed acts of destruction or damage to anything in the secure area. So he said we had nothing to do but watch this thing. I think I asked him about the guard dogs reaction and he said the dog was going crazy over the ordeal like the rest of them.

During this conversation many other airmen had arrived after us and were also listening to the various accounts from the separate SP's. There were about 20 of us airmen gathered around the guard shack, and we began walking up to our own building.

I remember all was quiet until about 3/4 the way up when one of our senior Sergeants said, "they must have seen a UFO last night". I don't know why I remembered that, just a dawning of something that really occurred I suppose.

Here's where I get involved sort of. After all the personnel arrived at the WSA that morning, we are all ordered back to main base.

This never happened before or afterwards during the year I was there, you have to realize that the WSA was far from the base and to drive all the way out there, and then be ordered back to the base was an unusual occurrence, and all the WSA personnel gathered in a room at our MMS headquarters.

It was very quiet in this room and everyone seemed to more or less be talking softly among themselves, myself and my best friend were sitting in the back of the room ( I was 17 ) and we briefly said to each other or commented to the affect that we thought we were going to war with these aliens, and that someone was to meet with us and tell us what was going on and why we were assembled here.

However, truth is stranger then fiction, and after about 10 minutes our squadron commander came out and stood in front of us, and used an angry tone of voice. I had never heard from him before and said the following, "you have not heard anything, you have not seen anything and you will not ever say anything.

That is a direct order"! Then he dropped the tone of his voice to a much more casual level, and said something about a helicopter had been seen in the area and was being investigated, geesh. We were ordered back to main base just for this ? You do the math!

I've seen deception first hand and I didn't even see the UFO. The odd thing was I probably would have wrote the whole thing off and forgot about it but when we were ordered back to main base, then ordered not to say anything, it reinforced the notion that it was real.

There's a yahoo news group called Loring AFB which has some stuff about the incident there and perhaps some first hand accounts, this is not a UFO related group but perhaps you might find someone to help you with further info. Good luck.

Thank you very much to the gentleman for taking the time to write and give what he knew about this event.

If anyone has witnessed the object, please send me an email with details of what you saw. Please remember to include the date and time and location. (Town/City – State or Province) and as much detail as possible.

Vike Factor Note: I do receive sighting reports from everywhere in the world, and I post all of the reports I receive here: http://the-v-factor-paranormal.blogspot.com/

Cigar Shaped UFO With Port Holes Travels Directly Over The White House

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: 1968

HBCC UFO Research Note: The below report is a fascinating event that took place. Especially having a UFO fly directly over the United States White House and as far as I know, nothing reported on this. From what the witness reports is that there was a five page report which was written up on the incident. What I would like to request from folks who may have knowledge or possibly have the pages of the incident to contact me at HBCC UFO Research or Mr. John Hayes at UFOINFO with any information on the event. This is a major incident and any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you, Brian Vike Director of HBCC UFO Research

Description: While acting as Duty Tower Controller at ECG in N.C. I received a call (approx 2230 hours) from the radio operator. He patched me in on the landline where I listened to Washington Center, Military sources including the Duty Officer in the tower cab while he described the object hovering over the runway.

Color/Shape: Silver in color, approximately 30 feet long, cigar shaped with two orange port holes in the side and a flashing green light below. The object made a whirring sound.

Height & Speed: Tracked on radar by Washington Center it departed up the Potomac River at approximately 100 ks directly over the White House where it turned skyward and disappeared in a flash. Later observed by a NW commercial air carrier enroute NYC at flight level 280. Tracked briefly close in then departed as before.

TV/Radio/Press: N/A.

Thank you to UFOINFO for this report. http://www.ufoinfo.com/

Additional Information gathered by HBCC UFO Research

Hello Brian,

I was stationed at Coast Guard Air Station, Eliz. City, N.C. for three years (65/68) as one of the seven air traffic controllers in the entire USCG (USN trained, AC(A) school,Glynco, Ga.and FAA certified). The event occurred Marine Quantico. I have an apartment in Pittsburgh, PA, but live and work in Dalian, China.

The entire incident was typed by the radioman who gave me a copy (five pages) printed on the old Mimeograph drum machines. I thought it was most unusual and interesting but you have to remember all I had to draw from was old Flash Gordon moves and the scattered accounts (then just disclaimed by the USAF Blue Book report) of Roswell and Area 51.

None of my fellow controllers thought it beyond amusing (at the Marine Capt. reply when asked by Wash. Center "can you go out there?". He said "not no but hell no I'm not going out there". Primary reason for our reaction was, it was a very conservative time and no one wanted to be associated with controversy. We didn't get our assignment by being political adventurers.

I told a social friend at the FAA Flight Service Station about it and got a better response and request for the transcript. Since I thought they were the bottom line in professionalism (as a later 10 veteran of the FAA 71/81 I found out much differently) I agreed. His supervisor liked the read and forwarded it to FAA HQ in Atlanta where it disappeared. End of story.

Last Dec I attended the Man Will Never Fly Association annual dinner (on the eve of the 'supposedly' First Flight) and was talking with a ret. USN Captain, (fmr Fox-4 driver, five tours in the 'Nam) at the hospitality room. He listened with polite attention and I noticed a strange smile on his face. I started out by saying "now, I'll probably lose whatever creditability I have by telling you this story" when I finished he said " We just had our home remodeled and the wallpaper installer told me the same story a month ago".

Brian, I know it happened, it was like I was standing next to the observer. I remember it word for word.

Hope this helps.

Thank you to the person for the fasinating story.

Retired USAF Intel Serviceman Sees Black Orb UFOs

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: 1996

Hi. My name is (removed). I'm 63 years old and retired after 30 years in the newspaper business and four years in the U.S. Air Force Security Service (intelligence). Just thought I'd give you my credentials so you don't think I'm a kook.

Anyway, I've seen a few UFOs in my life, and most are types I've seen described elsewhere. But back in the 1990s -- it was the year Bob Dole was running for president (1996) -- I was a volunteer parent for my younger son's marching band. We were in Fresno, CA, for a marching band contest.

While the band was getting ready, I looked up and saw what looked like a bunch of black balloons that someone had released.

I went back to helping the band prepare, and then glanced up a few minutes later, expecting that the balloons would have gotten farther away from us and from each other. Instead, they were no farther away from us, but they were getting closer to each other.

I alerted others to this, and many in the band and among the other parents all looked up, shrugged and went back to what they were doing.

These black objects kept getting closer and closer together, moving very slowly. It took about an hour before they came together and coalesced. I kept pointing this out to everyone, but no one was impressed. One young band member told me it was probably helicopters.

Finally, they coalesced into a large, black mass, then flew away at about the speed of a propeller-driven craft, but made no noise.

I have never heard or read of this type of phenomenon anywhere else.

Thank you to the gentleman for his welcomed report. This comes from a long time professional and ex-military man.

USS Fairfax County Main Light Above The Ship - Lights Break Off

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: 1993 and 1997 Time: Approx: 4:30 a.m.

Location: 100 miles off the coast of North Carolina on the USS Fairfax County LST 1193. Satellite Bch FL Park Ave, was the location of the second.

Approach Direction: See descriptions of sightings. Departure Direction: See descriptions. Witness Direction: See descriptions.

Description: The first on board USS Fairfax County was approx: 4:30 am where I and one other member of the crew observed a white light, like a star, moving to slow to be a shooting star and to fast to be a missile or jet moving west to east when it came to a complete stop very high above us (directly above). A few seconds later two lights shot off at amazing speeds northeast while there was still a light where we watched it initially stop it then took off directly north approx three seconds after. All objects moved at such a speed that they appeared to disappear.

The second sighting included five other witnesses other than myself. I lived one house from the beach on a street perpendicular too it. My roommate, friend Mike, and George faced southwest toward State road A-1-A while George's girlfriend and Chris were facing northeast opposite us when I recall exactly Elizabeth yelling four times "look at that, look at that, look at that, look at that!". What we all saw was a white/blue light the size of a helicopter being followed by a red ball of light slightly smaller than a VW Beetle come flying 50 feet above the ocean directly in-front and above us and it did not make a sound or disturb the air. It went directly west too east moving at such a speed that by the fourth " look at that" it was gone. From over the ocean too the opposite horizon in 3 seconds. We were very, very close with an unobstructed view and it was just light, light blue, and neon red, silent, and disturbed no wind. It was approximately 12:00 am.

TV/Radio/Press: Neither was reported.

Northern Saudi Arabia Desert Military Man Recounts V- Shaped Formation

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: Jan-Feb 1991 Time: Varied - Midnight to 3:00 a.m.

Location of Sighting: Northern Saudi Arabia Desert. Number of witnesses: Multiple. Number of objects: 1-2 Shape of objects: Unknown, but lights in V shape.

Full Description of event/sighting: During Desert Storm, my unit was staged in the northern Saudi Arabian desert, about 50 miles south of the border with Iraq. On at least two occasions, as I was performing perimeter guard duty in the early morning hours, I was sitting on the edge of the perimeter, scanning the area to my front, when I suddenly had the feeling that something was over me. I looked back over my shoulder, and saw what appeared to be 5 lights, almost identical to the brightness of stars, in the shape of a V flying above me. It was a moonless night, but in that part of the desert, starlight shone brightly, and whatever this thing was appeared out of no where. What struck me as strange is that it made no sound at all, but it looked like five stars moving slowly over my unit. I kept watching as this thing passed over my unit, and then moved beyond me and slowly out of sight. As it passed over, all that could be heard, was the faint sound of a rush of air, like a low wind blowing. I have no way of judging the size of this object, as I could make out no shape of an object, only V shaped lights, but compared to the size of a Boeing 747, a plane of that size to have lights spread to those dimensions, would only possibly be 100 feet off the ground to be that size.

Within five minutes, this cluster of V-shaped lights flew silently over again. Twice in one night.

What was surprising in this, I was not the only person in my unit that saw this thing. In fact, nearly every person in my section at some time or another saw this cluster of lights silently flying over our site. I happened to see it again on a separate night of guard duty, only this time, I also had a set of night vision goggles with me. The thing flew over again, and I tried my best to train my goggles on it, but the only thing I could make out were the five lights, no form or outline of the object could be made out.

I recall reading accounts of the Fort Stockton flying boomerang sightings in Texas, as well as the infamous "Phoenix Lights" sightings in 1997, and descriptions of both of these sightings, sound very similar to what the Soldiers in my unit witnessed during Desert Storm in 1991. I am still serving in the US Army, so I withhold my name and address, but wanted to share this with you.

Thank you to the witnhess for the report.

McGregor Range Ft Bliss Texas Cigar Shaped Object

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: 1983 Time: 5:00 a.m.

Number of witnesses: 2 Number of objects: 1 Shape of objects: Cigar as looking from the side.

Full Description of event/sighting: I've sent a previous report about a UFO when I was a child but I had seen another. I was a drill Sgt in Ft Bliss Texas when I was required to take a Trainee to the hand grenade range to be retested . We were on the range when it was still dark but the moon and the stars were very bright, so bright that we could see very well.

The trainee had been walking around and then approached me to bum a cigarette, as I looked out of the window of the van I saw an object about 100 feet off the desert floor moving to the west toward white sands. This object had no lights and made no sound and was as bigger than a blimp. It blocked out the stars and moon and moved at about 10 mph .We watch it for about 30 minutes until it disappeared toward New Mexico.

There is an airfield on Ft Bliss and El Paso International Airport nearby I thought that we would hear something about it, but we didn't and others laughed when I told them.

Thank you to the person for the report.

Lieutenant Ordered All His Guards To Open Fire On Disc Shaped Craft

Posted: December 27, 2007

Dear Brian, I read your article on the UFO incident at NAS Memphis (Millington). I was stationed on the north side of NAS Memphis from 1981-1983 with MAG-42 Det B.

The reason that I am sending you this email is not because of your particular story, but because one of the unit commanders, a Lieutenant Colonel (name removed) was stationed with me there and we began talking about UFOs.

This man was a reservist who was a Tennessee state worker (a biologist) who told me of his own UFO story that he said he shared with very few people.

I figured that because he was an A-4 pilot, a Lieutenant Colonel and a scientist working for the state that his word was as good as gold to me.

I don't know if you want to hear it, but if you do, please let me know and I will send it to you. Thanks.

Additional Information:

Brian, Thanks for taking the time out to respond to my email. The story is in general, I don't know the exact locations or times of the main event, but Lieutenant Colonel (name removed) (spelling may be off a little, referring to the Lieutenant Colonel's name) and I use to golf regularly and he use to tell me that I should hear his UFO story some time. Finally one day we finished golfing (at the NAS Memphis golf course) and we sat down in the bar and I asked him about his incident.

He told me that when he was a Lieutenant, and was one night the "Officer of the Guard" that his guards frantically called him on the radio stating that there was a UFO hovering over the storage building that held the ammo and weapons (the Armory). He and his Sergeant of the Guard got in a jeep and sped to the location and saw a very large shiny silver flat disc hovering about 30 feet above the building. He said that his guards were beside themselves over it! He added that the disc was making a low humming sound.

Then he ordered all his guards to open fire on the disc. Even he himself was shooting at it. He said that the rounds just bounced off the disc and finally it sped away at an incredible speed. When I asked him if he thought is was of 'Earthly origin' he told me that there was no way that any human could have endured the G forces at the speed the object was moving. When I asked him how big it was, he told me that it was bigger than the building it was hovering over. He said that he submitted a report on the incident and never heard anything again! He wasn't even questioned by any higher authority.

As I stated in my last email, this man is a scientist and was a military fighter pilot of high rank. I worked with him for 3 years and not once did I ever see anything that would make me question his sanity. He was extremely sober minded and a 'matter of fact' type of person.

Why he insisted on telling me this story I do not know. I always wondered about that. Maybe he just trusted me and wanted to tell somebody. I was just a lowly Sergeant that did his paperwork for him.

I know this doesn't give much detail, and I apologize over that. I wish I would have had the presence of mind to ask him more details. Thanks for listening. Hope it helps somehow.

Thank you to the person for relating this interesting story.

Crailsheim, Germany U.S. Army Service Personal Have A Unexplained Experience

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: May or June 1980 Time: Evening

HBCC UFO Research is asking that if any service personal who were serving at the Crailsheim, Germany Army Base, and may have any information as to what may have taken place there regarding the servicemen who was stationed there, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Also I would like to ask if any service personal had any unusual sightings in or around the base would they please contact me. All personal information will be kept confidential. Thank you.

Message: In May or June of 1980 I was stationed in Crailsheim, Germany. One evening an Army buddy and me where given a ride out to a lake (approx 6 miles from town). There was suppose to be a large party out there.

When we arrived there were probably thirty or forty people, drinking and smoking hash, around a dying bonfire. My buddy and I had one beer each and decided to leave the lame party, and head back to town.

After walking about two miles we left the small paved road we were on and started across a field with two foot high grass. Soon I realized my buddy wasn't beside me. I started back through the now bent grass, until I came upon my friend laying on his back.

Worried, I ran over and looked down at him. Being from Minnesota, he looked as though he were laying in fresh snow, making snow angels.

At this point I figure someone from the bonfire either slipped him some drugs, or he is playing some, uncharacteristic, game. I'm start getting upset because all I want is to get back to town before the bars close.

I tell him to get up, so we can get back to town. He lays there looking up at me saying " you gotta see this". He says this a few times when I suddenly realize, he's not looking up at me. But rather up past me.

The last thing I remember is turning my head to look up and then slowly spiraling to the ground.

The next thing I remember is waking up walking, and I mean literally, one foot coming down in front of the other on the pavement (walking trail I believe).

At first I was disoriented and didn't know where I was. Soon I got my bearings and realized I was a half mile out of Crailsheim.

I figure it was three miles from the field to where I, I guess came to.

My buddy and I never spoke about that night, actually we very seldom spoke to each other after that night. We both left Germany in early within two months of that night (early July).

I left Germany almost twenty-five years ago. The first twenty-two years I rarely thought of that night, but the last three, almost daily.

The people I have told this story to have tried to explain it as some drug induced, or some sexual experience that has been blocked by my subconscious. I have too much awareness for those explanations.

I'd like to know if there has been any similar stories related to that area of Germany in that time period. Thanks.

Additional Information:

Hi Brian, Thanks for your quick response. I wish I could tell you that I turned and looked up into the belly of the mother ship, or that I saw even a flicker of a light in the night sky. But. unfortunately what I mentioned earlier is all I remember. As far as my buddy at the time, I haven't spoken to him since about two weeks after that night. I would like to also state that I have never, before or after that evening, blacked -out. Which makes what happened twenty-five years ago frustrating as hell.

It's hard for me to articulate the almost emotional numbness, until recently, I've felt towards that evening. When I would tell friends and family about it, they would say that it was very strange, while I would blow it off to maybe being overly tired that night.

There is one more thing that I remember. It's actually a feeling. I felt as though the U.S Army (which if I failed to mention, I served 6 years in) was looking out for me. Almost in an overly protective way. As an example; lets just say there were thing I did in my last two months in Germany I am not proud of.

Let me preface this next part by saying that I was a good soldier. I had planned to be a lifer. The following I have never spoken to anyone about.

One evening about a week after my night in the field, my platoon ( about twenty-five of us) were guarding an ammo site about twenty miles outside Crailsheim. On about the tenth night, of a two weeks assignment, I remember thinking that I had had enough of the Army. There was no big event that drove me to this realization. I had just had enough.( to this day I don't know where that thought came from) I walked out of the barracks, and along with another soldier I had told my plan to, climbed over the fence and left. I spent three days with an on again off again girlfriend.

When I met my platoon back at Crailsheim nothing was said by my platoon Sgt. or company commander. Everyone knew I was AWOL, it was no secret. but none of my superiors would mention it. The soldier I jumped the fence with, was only gone two hours before he went back to the ammo site. He was court marshaled. My last night in Crailsheim, my platoon Sgt came up to me at the NCO club. He said "Someone must really like you". I knew he was talking about the night I left the ammo site. I also know there was something else he wanted to say, but he never said it.

There were also times after that night in the field that I felt I was being watched. But nothing I can point to and say, one night I saw something hiding behind a tree.

Anyways, I came back to the States where I re-enlisted and served three years of honorable service filled with awards and commendations. (I taught basic training in Fort Bliss, Texas) I was suppose to go to Fort Lewis,Wa, but I was reassigned to Texas. Forty miles from White Sands. Hmmm. My life in the military could go on for hundreds of pages, but I wouldn't do that to you.

So thanks for your time. And no, I don't recall any strange experience from my time in, TX and N.M.

Today was the first time I've been to your site. I like it. Keep up the good work.

PS I'm believe firmly that we make our own choices and that no one can makes us do what we don't want, but I'll always feel guilty for the young soldier that climbed that fence with me.

Thank you to the fellow for the interesting story.

Muenchweiler, Germany More Witnesses To A UFO Sighting

Posted: December 27, 2007

HBCC UFO Research Note: In 2004 I had an eyewitness write to me explaining what it was that two people witnessed over an Army Base at Muenchweiler, Germany back in 1980. (There is a link in the below report to their sighting) If these folks do come across this new information about the UFO sighting over Muenchweiler, Germany would they please contact me. I had a computer crash and lost a fair bit of information and have lost their email address. Thank you, Brian

Date: 1980-1982

Hello!! My name is (name removed) and I lived In Munchweiller from 1980-1982.

My Dad was in the army, and I remember this story.

When I was living there, US and German air force jets would fly between the hills there. They flew so low that the windows would shake. This is significant because when I heard about this, I almost saw the UFO.

The army housing was on one side of the base, and the DYA and the very small PX and hospital was on the other side. There was a huge field in the middle of the base, and we played out there.

I remember the UFO story. As I remember, I think the military investigated this. I may even know the persons in your story, I lived in the fourth building on the 2nd floor in Munchweiller. (facing the main gate)

I think that others there may have saw it. I remember that we used to walk though a hole in the fence (so we would not have to walk around the fence) into town and some of my German friends said that they saw something.

Thank you for your time.

Additional Information:

Thank you for writing me back.

Yes, I remember the day the UFO was reported seen. What I meant about hearing the UFO was that in the town of Munchweiller, you could hear everything on base and the day that object was seen it was very quiet and clear.

The girls in the paper that I saw lived behind me, 2 buildings away. They were yelling loudly outside and I was home at the time. I think it made a sound when it left, a weird whirling sound that I really did hear.

The object passed above the base, really fast. I am basing this on where I was at the time. It happened so fast that I did not see it, but I almost did. The girls yelling caused a lot of people to come out and look. I think the Army did look into this, but I do not remember what came out of this.

I would really like to thank the gentleman for taking the time with me to do an audio report and for the report itself.

Walldorf And Rhein Main Air Base UFO Sightings

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: 1980-1981 Time: Day/Night

Number of witnesses: 7 Number of objects: 3 Shape of objects: 1 cigar 2 oval white lights.

Full Description of event/sighting: This is a description of 2 incidents that occurred while I was stationed at Rhein-Main Air Base. I was there between 1978-1983.

Sometime in the summer of 1980 I was sitting in the backyard with a Lt. Col in the Air Force, a Danish engineer and 2 German stewardesses at their apartment on Otto-Hahn Strasse in Walldorf (they had a bottom floor so they had a small yard). I just happened to glance up and noticed what I thought was a commercial jet flying several thousand feet up. I thought it was a jet until I noticed that I could not see wings or a tail. I mentioned it to the others who also saw the object, cigar shaped with what may have been windows on the side (that's why my mind grabbed at a commercial jet). Since it was headed towards the sun my second thought was that it just they way the sun reflected on it but the Danish man grabbed binoculars and saw that there were no wings. The two stews became very upset and did not even look at the object as they stated they had seen enough UFOs for a lifetime and did not want to talk about it. I am sorry that I do not remember their names.

The second sighting the next year was really several weeks of sightings. Its kind a funny because everyone at Rhein-Main knew about it and watched them for a while before it became boring. There were two objects above the airport (since it is shared with the Frankfurt Flughafen) that were seen every night. They were straight up and looked at first like a star or planet until they moved. They would dart back and forth and would do a L shaped maneuver without stopping. My now ex-wife's brothers came over for a visit from the states and I told them the story of the UFOs and they laughed. I took them outside where I worked and without knowing if they were still up there told them to look up and there they were. It scared both of them pretty badly that they would not look up.

If it helps with credibility I was stationed with the 1945th Comm Group. I was involved with the Return of the 52 hostages from Iran in 1981; one of the aircraft seen in the pictures tail was 10T4 as I was the radio operator. As I said, for part of my time there I lived on Otto-Hahn Strasse in Walldorf, a short time in Worfelden and some years on the base at the housing area.

Anyway, I have held these memories long enough and hopefully someone will come forward with pictures or verify the story.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

F4-Phantom Weapons Control Technicians In The USAF Observe Three Oval Crafts

Posted: December 27, 2007

Date: August 1978 Time: 5:30 a.m.

Number of witnesses: 3 Number of objects: 3 Shape of objects: Oval

Full Description of event/sighting: Driving from home in Wrightwood, CA to work at George AFB in a 2-door sedan with 2 co-workers eastbound on Hwy 18 between Sheep Creek Rd and Hwy 395 near Phelan, CA. Myself and other witnesses were F4-Phantom Weapons Control Technicians in the USAF. My eastbound view was of mountains on horizon with first glow of sunrise behind mountains. Weather calm and completely clear. 1st large oval rises up from directly behind mountains due east from me. Motion is slow, floating like a blimp or balloon. At first I thought it was a large blimp with a mirror-like exterior reflecting the sunlight (sun was below the eastern horizon during the entire encounter), object was extremely bright, yet had a distinct oval outline. After rising a few degrees above mountains object stopped all motion. Total time to rise up was about 2 minutes. Second identical object then began to rise just to the left of the first object.

Second object moved identically to first, then stopped next to first at equal altitude. Third identical looking object then began to rise just to right of first object, at same slow rate, until it was at equal altitude with other 2 objects. All three objects remained still for about 2 more minutes. Very curious sight at this time, but all witnesses still thought objects were blimps. Right-most object then begins to rise slowly above others, stops completely, then moves from a complete stop to a point slightly above the horizon almost directly due south of us (visible out the right side of the car) in about 2 or 3 seconds then comes to a complete stop again.

No acceleration or deceleration was apparent. Middle object then does exactly the same, stopping next to the other above the southern horizon. Third object then repeats the same exact maneuver. When all 3 were stopped hovering next to each other then all 3 objects slowly descended towards the ground until disappearing on the southern horizon. Objects retained their extreme brightness throughout the entire encounter, even when in a position near the southern horizon where there was no sunlight to reflect in my direction. All witnesses agreed with each other not to speak of the sighting due both to fear of ridicule, and due to the fact that all of us were under orders to speak of any potential UFO sightings ONLY to our commanding officer (to my knowledge all AF personnel, including myself and the witnesses, at the time were required to sign a statement acknowledging the order upon enlisting in the AF).

Thank you to the eyewitness for the interesting report.

Cannon Air Force Base Security Police Watch Numerous UFOs

Posted: December 26, 2007

Date: July 1976

HBCC UFO Research Note: The Cannon AFB sighting report below came in through my submissions feed, the person reporting this event is anonymous and I have no way of writing back to this person. I certainly would like to chat to the witness over this event if he would be kind enough to drop me a line to Brian Vike, at hbccufo@telus.net Also again I would like to request that any servicemen at the Cannon AFB who witnessed these unusual events to please come forward with a detailed report, or possible footage or photos which were taken this evening as explained in the report below.

July 1976 at Cannon Air Force Base

The following events occurred 30 years ago. The exacts details have become a little fuzzy, after all I haven't thought about this stuff for 3 decades.

I arrived at Cannon Air Force Base in November of 1975. I remember the night because there was about an inch of snow on the ground and the next morning it was in the 70's. It's true what they say about desert weather. LOL.

I was a member of the 27th SPS (Security Police) and the only event that I can recall happening during January of 1976 was some talk of a plane crash that was supposed to happen, but everyone had different stories with different facts, so I passed them off as fairy-tales. But early July 1976 is a different story.

I was working Security and we were on rotating shifts, something like 3 days on days then 2 off, 3 days on afternoons and 2 off, then 3 days on nights then 2 off. Anyways, it was my last day on nights and I was on patrol with another Airman and we were back by the Portales Gate (a remote gate that basic lead to the town of Portales, hence the name) when my partner pointed at something in the sky and asked, "what the hell is that". I saw a light in the sky that appeared to be hovering maybe a couple hundred feet above the ground, just outside the base. We pulled over to the side of the road and observed it for a few minutes. It was blue on top, white in the middle and green on the bottom. We finally called dispatched and asked them if they could contact Flight Tower to see if they had any planes flying. The response was that they did not have anything in the air. It was about then that our dispatch got a call from the Clovis Police and said that they could see some strange lights over the south side of our base. They asked if we had anything in the air. The radio then came alive with other reports all saying the same thing, the light were being seen by others. The Flight Tower was contacted and their radar showed nothing in the sky.

We told dispatch how close we were to the light, and soon 2 other patrols were parked along side us watching it. One of them decided to drive towards the light and we kept in contact with them, to direct him, but as we gave directions and he got directly under the light it could not be seen.

Suddenly the light just seemed to vanish, gone in a blink of an eye. It did not fly away, it just disappeared.

The next night I was sleeping and it was approx 2:00 a.m. when I heard a commotion coming from the hallway of my barracks. I got dressed and followed everyone outside to see what was going on. In the skies above us were approx: 12 lights that made a perfect circle around the base. Each one was the exact same distance from the other, so I knew that this could not be by accident. I wondered if it could be related to the events I witnessed a few nights before. We watched the lights for about an hour or so and then it was as if someone had turned off the power to them, they went off one at a time in a circular manner.

The next night, I could not fall asleep so I went outside to take a walk around, hoping that would make me tired. As I was walking I found myself looking up at the sky and the next thing I saw was a single light appear, then another and another until all 12 lights had come back on like the night before. I noted the time and it was the exact time as the night before.

I ran back to my barracks, where the entire squad had assembled and several people had movie cameras and were filming the sky. As they did the night before, and at the same time, they went off one at a time, just like they had come on.

I eagerly waited the next night for the lights to appear, but they never returned.

The next month in one of the "men" magazines that were being sold at the time (I think it was (removed) magazine) had interviewed the base commander for an article about the lights. So if you want to read up on this, look for a back issue of (removed) magazine dated August or later of 1976.

Thank you to the witness for the very interesting report.

The Roswell Briefing

Posted: December 26, 2007

Date: 1976

Brian Vike of HBCC UFO Research has been speaking to a gentleman, who was a LT. COL, USAFR (Ret). (He was a F-111 pilot with the 27th Tactical Fighter Wing stationed at Cannon AFB near Clovis, New Mexico from 1973 to August 1977). His initial email to me was over a post/report I sent out which I entitled, "Cannon, AFB - UFOs, Burned Circles & Cow Found Mutilated". Also in the fellows letter to me, the man mentioned that he was one of approximately 48 officers who received the "Roswell Briefing" in June of 1976 at the base. I wrote back to him asking if he might be kind enough to supply me with what was said at the briefing, so below is what the fellow sent to me. The "Roswell Briefing" is in one of the two jpg images in which he sent along, both are of text information.

HBCC UFO Research is of course interested in any further information that anyone might be able to provide from military personal who may have been at this briefing back in 1976, or any information from anyone who has knowledge of the goings on over the Roswell Crash. You can reach me at hbccufo@telus.net or by visiting my website which is provided in this report. I also can be contacted at 250 845 2189. Please know that everyone's personal information is kept strictly private and is not given out to anyone. The information someone might be able to provide can be extremely important.

Thank you, Brian Vike - Director of HBCC UFO Research.

Brian, I have included pages 1 and 3 of my "The Roswell Briefing" which I penned in the mid 1990s. The briefing may, in fact, have been less than 5 minutes in duration.? Most of the information has been well do*****ented in volumes of Roswell lore buy the likes of Randle, Schmitt, Friedman, etc.

The lone exception perhaps is that the briefing officer mentioned the probable cause of the craft's demise as determined by the USAF accident investigation team ?

If there is anything significant about all this, it's simply that a USAF intelligence officer, briefing from an official government do*****ents, disclosed to a group of military aircrew members details of an event which officially never happened.

The F-111s have long gone from the base ? The squadron was de-activated and the young intelligence officer left active duty reportedly to accept a position with an intelligence agency at a higher level.

The Roswell Briefing was conducted in June 1976.? It was a full 20 years before I jotted down my recollections.? Senator Goldwater subsequently confirmed on a morning talk show that he did try to gain access to the now famous Hanger 18.?

As far as I'm concerned, that alone was enough for me to dispel any doubt about the authenticity of the briefing officer's material.? Sure would like to have seen the letterhead on his do*****ent, however.

Warmest Regards.

The two text images will be added after I get things figured out. (HBCC UFO)

I would like to thank the fellow for sending along the information, it is much appreciated.

Cannon, AFB - UFOs, Burned Circles & Cow Found Mutilated

Posted: December 26, 2007

Date: January 1976

HBCC UFO Research Note: This report is one of a few sighting reports I have received from ex-military serviceman who worked out of the Cannon AFB. All the men filed reports on seeing numerous unknown objects over the AFB back in January 1976.

I have a list of military people who operated out of the Cannon AFB and I am writing to each and everyone of them in hopes they might be able to shed some more light on this major event. If possible that is.

Brian Vike - Director of HBCC UFO Research has set up an telephone interview time with this gentleman who filed this report below. Actually I will be doing the interview today. Later this month when I appear for my regular guest spot of the Jeff Rense radio program, I will be bringing this gentleman with me so he can relate his story to us all, and it is going to be an amazing conversation.

Lastly, and very important, I am looking for other military service men and women who were at the Cannon AFB who has any knowledge of the UFO events that took place at the base in 1976, would you be so kind as to contact me with any information on the sightings. Always, please keep in mind I will hold your personal information here, and I will not release it to anyone. Also if any other military folks who have had an encounter with something unexplainable over or around a military base, would you be so kind as to contact me with the information. Brian Vike can be contacted at: hbccufo@telus.net or visit my website which is given in the report.

Hello, my name is (removed). I just watched a SciFi program on the 1947 Roswell NM UFO crash and got to researching an incident I witnessed at Cannon AFB in January 1976. In my search I ran across your article http://rense.com/general58/spspc.htm.

I was working the Security Police Desk that night at Cannon and was the one that called the report into Base Operations. A few days later I also spoke with an individual from Washington DC. I don't recall his name or department.

The first report was from Sgt Whitt, who was stationed on the outer perimeter of the flight-line. After that, several reports came in from Base Patrols. I talked someone into handling the Desk for me so I could have a peek.

I was allowed into the flight tower and looked at the objects (about a dozen or so) through a Starlight Scope. Flight Ops was concerned enough to scramble 2 F11's to give chase. Around midnight several of us went up onto the highway overpass and cut the overpass lights for a better view. We watched them until almost dawn.

About that time there were also several burned areas in farmer's fields surrounding the Air Base. I saw two of the circles. The burned circles were approximately 30 feet across and had a dead cow in the center. All the flesh was burned from the cow, but no blood was on the ground or apparently in the cow. Some of the cows had neat, clean burned out cavities in the abdomen about a foot in diameter, and a foot or so deep.

I would like to thank you gentleman for his report and looking forward to speaking with his shortly.

Cannon Airforce Base UFO Incident - Special Report

Posted: December 26, 2007

By Brian Vike - Director of HBCC UFO Research

This UFO incident took place in 1976 over and around the Cannon Airforce Base which is located a few miles outside of Clovis New Mexico and was witnessed by a student of Journalism.

Bruce, who works for a major media outlet, witnessed the objects, and the jet aircraft that persued them, and who was fortunate to capture one of these objects on film.

A little background on Bruce around the time the incident took place: Bruce was working in the news department at Channel 3, the PBS station in Portales, New Mexico. In addition to working at the PBS station he held a couple of part time jobs with two of the local radio stations as well. At that time money was an issue due to Bruce being a college student. Working at the different media outlets it was giving him the experience he needed for his upcoming career in Journalism. One of the overnight jobs Bruce had was in Clovis, New Mexico at KMTY FM 99.1 which was at that time one of the 100 thousand watt radio stations in the country.

First Night's Encounter With Unknown Objects

On January 21, 1976 Bruce received a call from the radio station manager to see if he would mind working as the station was going to do some performance checks on the transmitter. Bruce would stay out at a remote location where some of the station's equipment was located. This is how Bruce ended up at the right time, and the right place, to see the events that were about to unfold in front of him in the skies above.

A side note to this story is that Bruce was also a storm spotter for West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Bruce was given a small kit which held a pair of binoculars, a note pad and a bunch of telephone numbers that he could call if a storm was spotted coming through the area.

Bruce had spent alot of time at Cannon Airforce Base as he was in the civil air patrol. At that time his senior flight instructor had given him his primary flight lessons. Being on the base, and not in the military, Bruce had become friends with a lot of the base personnel. Since he worked at one of the local radio stations he would play requests that were called in from the base security and night maintenance. He got to know them all very well.

Bruce mentioned that Cannon was located between the University of Portales and Clovis and it was common to see the F-111's and Aardvarks taking off from the base with full afterburners carrying out nighttime flight operations.

Bruce arrived and was sitting in his truck at the location of the transmitter. While waiting for the phone to ring in the transmitter shack he noticed a number of pin-point lights popping up in the sky which appeared to look like light-bulbs on a string. Two of them dropped downward until they reached a lower altitude, stopped and hovered. The lights were seen between his location and the Airforce Base at this time. While watching these strange objects Bruce grabbed the pair of binoculars he had with him. He describes the two lower lights as the classic saucer shaped craft and they had a bluish glow to them with a red radiant glow on the bottom side of the craft. A small dome shape could easily be seen at the top of each of the two objects. In his estimation he believes the objects may have been at least 30 to 50 in diameter. The two objects were hovering parallel to one another and then started to move off at a slow rate of speed in perfect formation heading towards the airforce base. Bruce said he followed them with his binoculars for approximately 15 minutes.

The objects flew past a number of buildings which were at the edge of the base and they proceeded to climb in altitude as to where they again looked like a small light in the clear night sky. Bruce said it looked as if the lights on, and in, the buildings were dimming due to the objects being in close proximity. Later after talking to base personnel, this proved to be true, the lights had dimmed, and the objects were noticed by the base personnel.

Bruce usually carried a small camera with him but on this day he had not brought it with him.

Bruce called the station as he was excited to talk about what he had just witnessed. Some of the other people at the station had also been watching the events unfold that night. Through Channel 3's connections they heard that the objects were widely seen by many that night and by the state police. An article was written on the objects seen that January.

Second Night's Encounter With Unknown Objects.

The next evening Bruce had gathered together a few people from the newsroom. Since Bruce was staying in a dorm on campus he knew a good number of folks on campus. He was able to get the keys for the door to the roof so Bruce and his friends could sit up on top of the building's roof to watch the skies just in case something should return. Although a cool night the group stood watching. This time Bruce did bring the camera.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. four objects dropped down from the night sky and started darting around. (This is where Bruce was finally able to capture an image of one of the crafts on black and white film.) As the people observed the objects, the Airforce Base had scrambled the F-111's jet fighters out of Cannon. The jet aircraft began trying to intercept the objects. As the aircraft got close to the vicinity of the unknown objects, the objects, at an incredible rate of speed, would shoot across the sky making 90 degree turns leaving the fighter aircraft trailing way behind as they just weren't able to keep up with the strange craft. As the objects made unusual turns a plasma type glow could clearly be witnessed by the group of people watching the event.

The cat and mouse chase between the objects and jets went on for approximately 45 minutes. Because the witnesses were on one of the tallest buildings in Portales, New Mexico, they could clearly see the flight-line at the Base. One of the men had brought a 150 power telescope which enabled the fellows to see the objects fly at a low altitude over the flight-line. As the objects passed over the lights running down the flight line, all the lights went out.

Eventually the objects shot up and were gone in a second, or so, and the F-111's were recalled back to the Base and landed safely.

Bruce told me that a couple days after the second night sighting of the objects a couple of the Base security personnel had called and explained how the lights went out over the entire base. Of course, Bruce was asking a lot of questions at this point. The security officer from the Base told Bruce that everyone at the Cannon AFB were freaking out as they did not know what these objects were. Also the security officer said that the Cannon base was bringing in new light towers from a SAC base in North Dakota to place on the flight line. The security officer told Bruce to keep an eye on the base as it would be really lit up after the new lighting was installed. A few days later the AFB was lit up brightly. Bruce talked to another military man from the base who said that the base had radar tape of the objects from both nights but certainly did not want Bruce to mention where the information came from.

Because there were others who were there who witnessed the events that took place over the Cannon Airforce Base I will be attempting to contact these witnesses to gather their reports on the event. One other important bit of information to this case is that there is a Freedom Of Information Act do*****ent to say that jet aircraft were scrambled out of the Cannon Airforce Base that evening in 1976. Although there has been no explanation as to why, this still gives us a valuable clue that something very unusual took place that night.

Update: After Bruce went public with his story on the Jeff Rense national radio program, he and his family were threatened. Bruce called me on July 20, 2004, after he appeared on the Jeff Rense radio program with me on Friday - July 16, 2004, when he told what he saw over the Cannon Airforce Base back in January 21, 1976. Bruce told me on the air that he had taken a black and white photograph of one of the objects that had been observed out-maneuvering the jet aircraft which were scrambled from the Cannon AFB. On July 20, 2004 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Bruce had a disturbing telephone call from an unknown person and the report on this is below.

Bruce wanted to point out to me that he does carry two cell phones with him at all times. One is for business, etc.. and the other is for personal business to keep in contact with family and close friends. He stated that no one had his private cell number as it was not listed and the only people that had this number were his wife, children, and some close friends. His children are grown up and now living on their own.

Bruce kept his cell phones on the night table. His work phone turned off, but the private phone turned on, just in case one of his children might need to contact him in case of an emergency.

As I mentioned above, it was around 1:30 a.m., Bruce and his wife had turned in for the night and were sound asleep when his cell phone started ringing. Knowing that he had his work cell phone turned off he knew it was a call from one of his children, and of course being a parent, he worried as he grabbed for the phone. Bruce answered with a hello and a voice spoke back saying, "Mr. Bruce (last name). Bruce said there was a very professional sounding gentleman on the other end. The man said he needed to talk to him about a matter of utmost urgency! Bruce still half asleep asked the man who he was, what was this call was all about, especially at this hour of the morning. The fellow said this is about your recent radio appearance and discussion about some photographs that you took back in New Mexico.

At this point in the conversation Bruce said to the man,"you have to be kidding me," thinking this had to be some kind of hoax, asked who was this. The man said there is no need for you to know who I am. He went on to say, "it would be in your best interest to discontinue this line of discussion and do away with those photographs. Destroy them!"

Bruce at this point is in shock about this man. He looks on the cell phone to see what phone number is displayed and it shows "number not available". The man told Bruce that "this is no joke and 'we' feel that this would be in your best interest, and for the sake of your family, that all of this go away."

Bruce told the man that if he wasn't willing to reveal himself then the conversation would be terminated. The man then went on to tell Bruce what his children were involved in, meaning their daily activities, where they lived, etc.., what Bruce's wife was doing, such as personal activities within the family, etc.. and said that he could fax Bruce his life's history within a few seconds. That was it, Bruce hung up and that ended the call with the stranger.

After this incident took place and some weeks had gone by, a neighbor of Bruce's caught up with him outside one day and told him that they had been seeing alot of traffic in and out of Bruce's property. Cars would pull up and stay for a while and then drive off. Other times the cars would pull into the driveway, stop, and men would get out and walk around the home. Then they got back into their cars and drove off. These cars that were coming and going had government license plates on them.

One other interesting fact to this story is that Bruce put together a package for me, Jeff Rense, George Filer and Peter Davenport. In this package there was a copy of the photo he had taken over the AFB. Bruce mailed out the packages to us all and not one of us have received the information. Bruce says he is going to try again and send it through a different means. I hope once I receive the material I can update this story.

So that is where this story stands right now.

Munitions OIC From Cannon AFB Reports Fighters From Another Base

Posted: December 26, 2007

Brian, I too was at Cannon AFB during the UFO sightings in January 1976. In fact I was the 3rd shift Munitions OIC. Two of my Senior NCOs and I witnessed the unexplained lights in the sky from the EOR. However, in your Special Report you state that F-111s from Cannon were scrambled to check out the lights. That did not happen. If planes had been scrambled, I and my NCOs would have been aware of the launch. I do however believe that fighters from another nearby base were scrambled during the multi-night sightings. We noticed fighter silhouettes flying over the base during these nights.

Thanks,

Thank you to the eye witness for the really interesting report.

Clovis, New Mexico Sighting - Related To The Cannon AFB Sightings

Posted: December 26, 2007

Date: January 1976 Time: Evening

HBCC UFO Research Note: Reports from Clovis, New Mexico have been coming in from a number of different people. I am waiting on a detailed description of a "burn spot" in the open field that yielded a strangely shaped piece of metal (very light and strong) that was confiscated by authorities. The witness also saw the tracks of pads in the field that were immediately covered over and he was interrogated by authorities (not local) during the event and much, much more coming. Also I will be posting the black and white photo of a UFO taken over the Cannon AFB tomorrow.

A gentleman called me from Clovis, New Mexico on Sunday June 18, 2006 (Father's day). Since I was out at the time the call came in, my daughter took the fellows name and phone number and told him I would call Monday, June 19, 2006.

I did telephone the man on Monday, June 19, 2006 and had a wonderful conversation with him, plus took an amazing report over what he and a close friend of his saw that night. The fellow also gave me the name of his buddy and another name of someone else who was witness to strange events that night also. I should point out that he also knew of others who saw the unusual objects over the two nights back in January of 1976. The fellow called after reading the Clovis News Journal as they carried a large article on the events that took place over the Cannon AFB in New Mexico.

The witness and his friend were out hunting coyotes just south (some 6 or 7 miles) of Clovis, New Mexico on a dirt road.

As they drove down the dirt road they both observed a light low over the horizon. Wondering what it was, as it appeared to look out of the norm, they decided to investigate. They knew there wasn't any bright stars that close to the horizon at least at this time of the year and at that time. As they watched, the light did not move and again the gentleman impressed upon me that what ever this light was, "it was low"!

Eventually they started traveling towards the light and finally got positioned right underneath it. The witness said it was a blue/green blinking light. They both were so fascinated by what they were seeing above them, and the light sitting stationary above at approximately 300 yards they got out of the truck. The object was not making a sound, he said, it was dead quite! There wasn't even a breeze that evening and they estimated they sat underneath the object for approximately 5 minutes.

Since the men both had rifles with them, the witness I talked with grabbed his 30-06 rifle and took a shot at the object and believes he put a round into it. As soon as the fellow fired and the impact of the shell struck the craft it immediately started to move straight north. They both jumped back into the truck and started to head north towards Clovis following the object. The driver got the truck up to it's top speed which was running at 120 miles per hour and the object was pulling away from the two men in their truck. He said is was moving alot faster than they were able to travel. They estimated it had to be traveling at 200 miles an hour or better. The object changed it's direction of travel by turning in a slight curve and it was now heading in the direction towards Texico, New, Mexico. As they still were traveling at a high rate of speed along the dirt road they said they could see the highway which was approximately two miles away from them, and it, it meaning the object.

Still keeping their eyes peeled on this strange light/craft, they saw a local Sheriff traveling along the highway east towards Texico from Clovis in his squad car, with the car's emergency lights flashing. The men figured the Sheriff was from either Texico or Farwell, New, Mexico. As they watched the object it shone a bright light down onto the Sheriff's squad car, completely flooding the squad car with light, then the object shot straight up at an incredible rate of speed and disappeared.

It just shot up into space and it was gone!

He told me he sat by quietly because he figured it might have been a military aircraft and he just put a bullet into the thing, not wanting to get into any trouble over shooting it. Also he mentioned after he saw the object doing all these strange maneuvers he was glad he placed a bullet into it.

He also told me that they watched the lights on the first night they were being reported in the area with his cousin, and the lights moved erratically all over the night sky. So once again this shows that these unusual lights were around for two nights like everyone has been reporting.

The witness also mentioned that he spoke to another man who taught at the Clovis Community College (name was given) and he watched the object/lights travel right behind the man's property which was north of Clovis. This fellow reported that the object was long/cigar in shape.

There was more the gentelman reported which was again very interesting.

Thank you to the witness for the very interesting report.

Clovis, New Mexico UFO Event - 1976 Burnt Ground & Unusual Metal Men In Suit

Posted: December 26, 2007

Date: 1976

HBCC UFO Research Note: I have removed a person's name from this report I was sent due to not having permission to make the person's name public as I just have not spoken to the person. Also I want to make it very clear, the person who wrote this report up wants to stay anomalous. Here at HBCC UFO Research I respect everyone's wishes. I will not be giving out this person's name.

Hello again, Brian, To answer your question, (name removed) name appeared in the Sunday article in the Clovis News Journal. I don't know if he gave permission to use it, as he is now located in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father was quoted, just joking about the whole thing, but that's the kind of man he is.

I took some time to sit down and write what I remember about that time, thirty years ago. I remembered quite a bit, maybe more than my friends. Here is the text:

I was a senior in high school, and was approached by a local young man named (name removed). He had heard that I owned a large telescope, and wondered if we might use it together to try to get a view of some objects he’d seen in the sky and taken pictures of the previous night. I had a 6" reflector telescope, and back then, it was uncommon.

I accompanied him and a young reporter from the Clovis News Journal for the next 36 hours or so. We had the telescope with us in the trunk of the car. We went out to several remote areas at the edge of town, and my friend described what he had seen the night before. We set up the scope, and binoculars, and looked at the sky. There were several moments when we thought we saw movement in the star field, but couldn’t be sure. Sometime after midnight, we decided to doze at the News Journal office, on a couple beat up old couches they had there, and listen to the police scanner.

After a short while, we heard a call go out for a “public service” to the “burn spot” behind the Colonial Park church, at the northwest edge of town. “Public service” meant fire, police, and emergency medical services were all to respond. We scurried out to the car, piled in and beat everyone but the state police to the site. When we arrived, a State Policeman told us that a couple had been “parking” (we knew the young couple from high school) behind the church when they saw a craft with green lights land in the field beside the church. It stayed a few moments, then blasted off into the sky. When it took off, it started the field on fire. When we got there, the fire was not burning. We could smell the burnt grass, so we crossed a barbed wire fence to get to the burned spot with flashlights in our hands.

The burned area was very strange. The prevalent winds here are from the west, and I remember that the burn spot ran north and south, about 100 yards long and 30 yards wide, contrary to the wind. There was a strange pattern at the edge of the burn also. The grass inside the burned area was burnt to the ground, then at the edge, the short grass wasn’t touched, and the taller grass farther out was singed only at the tops. Some of the grass fifteen feet from the edge of the burn was singed on the top, with untouched grass in between. So it seemed that a giant flame had played over the field, completely unlike a natural grass fire, which has a clear line delineating the edge. This peculiar pattern was all around the edge of the burned spot.

In the middle of the burn, we found a weird clue. There was a square of grass, about 18 inches, perfectly square, and the grass had been pressed down hard into the dirt. Around the square the grass was completely burned away, but the grass flattened in the square was untouched, but for being pressed down. It seemed as if something very, very heavy was sitting there, and left a footprint in the grass. We spread out, looking for other similar “footprints,” but there were none, only the one, singular square.

As we were in the field, walking around the burned spot, a four-door sedan pulled up to the edge of the field where the firefighters and local police were waiting. The sedan had four men inside, all of them wore suits. The state police waved us over. The men were pretty much nondescript, clean shaven, average looking, short haircuts, but not quite military. They started asking us questions. One of them opened the trunk of the car and it was filled with electronic equipment. He took a device out of the trunk and closed the trunk. We told them about the square footprint, and they wanted to see it. We all walked to the field, and showed them the spot. With the flashlights playing on the spot, one of the men took his shoe and rubbed the spot out, obliterating it. I remember his words to this day. “That’s nothing."

We were instantly angry. I marched off away from the group and more towards the edge of the burn, where we hadn’t looked around. I was fuming, shining the light around hoping to get another clue. I found one.

It was a piece of constructed metal, about two feet long. When I picked it up, I noticed that it was very light, yet strong, like titanium. On one end was a tube, about two inches in diameter, and attached to the side of the tube and running along its length was a small flat bar. The bar was about twice as long as the tube, and on the end of the bar was attached a fin. The fin was about 8" wide, and very flat and thin.

I yelled to my friends, but before they could get there, one of the suits ran up and snatched it from me. He hauled it away so fast that my friends only got a glimpse of it. The suits then told us to leave the area. We stomped off, and hung around by our car. What the suits didn’t know is that the young reporter, who had his camera around his neck the whole time, had taken a photograph of the square footprint. That photo is still somewhere out there.

The police, firefighters, and ambulance were all leaving, as there were no casualties and no fire. The police announced they were all going to Denny’s, a local restaurant, for coffee. The suits asked if one of us young people would ride with them, and since I was the youngest, I was “elected."

I sat between two of the suits in the back seat. They interrogated me while we were driving, asking all kinds of personal questions, about me, what I did with my time, what movies I liked, my hobbies. Even at a young age, I knew they were fishing. I was polite, and was very happy to get out of their car. We all sat at different tables at the restaurant, and didn’t talk much, as the suits were listening.

When we left, everyone (including the suits) went to the old empty Hotel Clovis, and I hauled my big telescope up to the roof. The suits had binoculars and several small, box-like instruments they were peering through. I remember how strange it was, them letting us youngsters even go up there. We watched the sky, waited, and watched some more.

I was getting dreary eyed when one of my friends noticed some strange movement in the star field. It was as if a star would just zip across the sky to another location where it would just stay. We’d watch it a while, and it would zip again, with excited shouts going up, “Did you see that?” “Did you see?” The suits would always deny seeing anything.

This watching went on for several hours, but no stunning play of lights or colors appeared. We all went to our homes and slept until the next night.

The next day, we read in the paper that the burn had been made by fireworks. In January. I knew it was a cover-up, as the burn pattern couldn’t have possibly been made by fireworks. They also said that what was seen in the sky was Saturn. There was no mention of the footprint, or the strange piece of metal.

Brian, there is more to the story, but I’ll have to get to that later, if you’re interested. Just let me know.

I would like to extend my many thanks to the person for this wonderful report which adds alot more information to what took place in 1976. Also there will be more to come.

Clovis, New Mexico UFO Ex Air Force Serviceman Talks About What He Knew

Posted: December 26, 2007

Date: January 1976

My next door neighbor and I also had some involvement with the Clovis UFO. I also knew Steve Muscato, the photographer who took the original picture for the local newspaper. His photo is of the stationary object that hung directly over Clovis for several days. I believe it occurred over quite a few days. There was one stationary light, in addition to other moving objects that many people saw. Plus, there was a photo in the paper of a mystery object found in a field. At the time, I was 14 years old. My next door neighbor Bob was an Air Force electronics technician who was an amateur ham radio operator and amateur astronomer. He and I spent a night on the top floor of the Hotel Clovis observing the UFO hanging in the sky. He used some sort of equipment to determine how high in the sky the stationary object was.

He excitedly reported that in his judgment the object was approximately 300 miles above the Earth. I also took some photos, but I no longer have them. Bob was told to shut up by the base and quit "exciting the locals with wild stories." Bob didn't tell me about this, but his wife later related the story of the phone call he got from his boss, to my mother. I also heard stories of guys coming from "Project Blue Book" to investigate, but my Dad, an Air Force master sergeant, said that was ridiculous because Project Blue Book didn't exist. As an adult, I served a number of years in the Air Force and my job put me in contact with virtually every plane in the U.S. and NATO inventory. Some have claimed that the UFOs were British harrier jets.

Absolutely not so. I grew up around jets my whole life and could identify them even as a child. Neither were they weather balloons. I would have to research, but I'm not sure the harriers were even operational at that time. In all reality, one has to try very hard in order to mistake a jet fighter for anything else. The whole thing was very interesting, and ended as mysteriously as it started. There was no real closure. But if you recall, Clovis was part of a rather massive UFO "scare" that occurred for a few years nationwide, beginning with the incident at Pasagoula, Miss, I think a couple of years earlier. It was a busy time for UFO activity.

You can contact me at (private contact information removed) if you like.

Thank you to Jonathan for his report, and also thank you to this gentleman for taking the time to have a long telephone conversation over this event and other things.

Loring AFB UFO Incident - October 1975 Another Person Speaks Out

Message: Loring AFB Incident - October 1975

To write this, I have to erase from my mind information I have learned over the years about this and go back to that month.

From what I can remember, that month started a month before during Labor Day weekend. It took me awhile to realize that these two events happened within a short time of each other. I am quite sure that my memory is right about this, and if not, I apologize.

Labor Day weekend, a family was camping at Baxter State Park, which is in the northern part of Maine. They were at a campground with other campers there. They had a son about four or five years old.

He liked to ride his tricycle around the campground. The neighboring campers watched the child, as did his parents. Within minutes, he disappeared. They found his tricycle by the dump and immediately started a search for him. Nothing.

They searched and searched, not even a piece of cloth. The Navy's infrared planes searched, dogs, flyers were sent all over the United States and Canada. Nothing.

From what I can remember, the Yankee magazine had an article about the disappearance of this child in 1980, the fifth year since his disappearance. This occupied our minds during September.

My ex-husband was stationed at Loring AFB and debriefed flight crews. Sometime around the first of October I went out to Base Ops to buy a soda or something. This was during the evening and the other stores were closed.

We were living on the base, and it was getting dark as I was driving home. I noticed that every fourth to fifth street was out. Since this was during the "gas crunch," I thought the base was being conservative.

Sometime within that week or maybe the start of the next week, my ex mentioned something about something "buzzing" the airstrip. Over the next couple of weeks, the situation escalated. Rumors were flying, the Bangor Daily News published articles about "lights" over Loring AFB.

Somehow I heard that it was a "helicopter" with no identifying marks on it, flying at night with no lights, and the pilot refused to answer the radio. It may have been in the Bangor Daily News that the "helicopter" was chased into Canada.

Panic was starting to spread through the base. Women were starting to pack and leave. I don't know if any of them did leave. Loring AFB was very secluded, hidden in a forest of pine trees. Couldn't even be seen from the highway that goes from Caribou to Limestone.

During that time, my thoughts were that we could be wiped off the face of the earth and no one would know that we were gone. I thought it was Russia. Loring was a dew line base, first strike.

Russia had their missiles aimed at us over the North Pole, as we had our missiles aimed at Russia over the North Pole. As the situation got worse, my thoughts were, "Why don't they force it down, shoot it down, do something!"

October 31, Halloween. Over the years I have read and heard differences about the date. I remember Halloween that year very well. The base was locked down. We had to close all of the blinds, no lights on, the base was darkened, no one was allowed to enter or exit the base.

A TV station out of Bangor decided to give us a Halloween treat by showing War of the Worlds, The Betty and Barney Hill Story, and another one I can't or don't want to remember. I heard the planes that night. The first time I can remember hearing the planes.

And that is all I can remember of the Loring AFB incident. It just went away.

After over 30 years, this still haunts me. How much danger were we in? In my innocence or whatever, at the time I didn't even realize that there were armed nuclear weapons stored on that base.

Where was our government? Not even the base commander tried to soothe our fears. I would really appreciate either an explanation or an apology for the hell that we went through in October 1975.

Another Thought on Loring AFB

From about September 1976 until May 1977, I worked at an off base NCO club as a *****tail waitress. The installation was a radar site north of Limestone, Maine.

I worked Friday and Saturday nights. The bar was open to the military, civilians and Canadians. I believe it was sometime during January or February 1977, a man came into the bar wearing a suit, which was out of place for that type of bar.

He was very obvious. The bartender nudged me and whispered, "OSI."

What was going on during the mid-70's?

Thank you to the person for the well written report.

If anyone has witnessed the object, please send me an email with details of what you saw. Please remember to include the date and time and location. (Town/City – State or Province) and as much detail as possible.

Loring AFB Youngster Tells Friend That His Father Knew About The Sighting

Brian Vike's Note: I would like to request that if any ex-service men or woman have any information about the Loring AFB UFO Incident from back in 1975, would they please contact me at b_vike@telus.net or sighting@telus.net. Thank you. Brian. Date of incident: 1975

Message: Hey Brian, just wanted to respond to that Loring AFB incident 1975 Article.

She was asking about if anyone knew about it well I kind of do. I lived in Caribou, Maine, which was about 10 miles or so away and visited the base quite frequently.

My friend whom I hung around with his father was in the Air Force and worked on the base. He (my friend) told me that his father saw a UFO on the base and told me about the lights and all of that.

So, I told him I did not believe him so he got his father outside and I asked him and he hesitantly said no kind of laughing it off.

And his son kept on him saying tell him the truth because he the father was always telling him about it.

Even his sisters were saying that he saw it so that's all I know about the incident. Thanks.

Thank you to the person for relating this to me.

If anyone has witnessed the object, please send me an email with details of what you saw. Please remember to include the date and time and location. (Town/City – State or Province) and as much detail as possible.

The Lorings AFB UFO Incident Of 1975 - Looking For Answers

Brian Vike's Note: The lady in question over this event that took place at the Loring's AFB in 1975 is having her mother give her the details on everything that took place at the base.

She will be sending the information along to me once it is written up, but in the mean time, the lady and I are looking for any others who were at the base at the time of this UFO incident.

If you have any knowledge of this event, would you please contact Brian Vike at sighting@telus.net or b_vike@telus.net

Message: Hi, I was searching through the 1970s sighting page and was wondering if you ever heard of "The Loring's Incident" ?

My father was stationed at Loring AFB in 1975 in Limestone, Maine. There is a wonderful account of UFOs hovering around the base.

Not to mention they were within hundreds of feet from the nuclear weapons site. Every site I go to never has the story and was wondering if you could post it up on your site. Thanks.

Additional Information:

I was born December 1974 in Limestone, Maine at Loring Air Force base. My family lived in base housing during the incident. During the alert, no one was aloud on or off the base, and lights were to be off after sunset in every house.

My father won't ever talk about the incident, but my mother remembers everything! Here is what I found on the net. Although I've heard this story from my family all my life. This story is on alot of various sites.

The base is no longer operating. I just talked to my mother, she was there when it happened, she says it's all in Freedom of Information. I could very well get a great story from her as a witness. But, I felt the best information I could give you was from a more informational source with more details.

I've been wondering almost all my life if there is anyone out here that may have been there at the time. You are the first person I have contacted online about this.

I figured with all the people that are here in the group, some one might have heard of it. It's been puzzling me. My mother and I have so many questions.

Thank you to the lady for contacting me.

If anyone has witnessed the object, please send me an email with details of what you saw. Please remember to include the date and time and location. (Town/City – State or Province) and as much detail as possible.

Loring AFB UFO Incident - A Senior NCO Speaks Out

Brian Vike's Note: I really do appreciate the information that I have received from ex-serviceman over the Loring AFB UFO Incident.

This gentleman heard a muffled noise around the time the unknown would have been over the base. Although he had not witnessed the unknowns, he certainly heard about it the next morning.

I can't stress enough how important having people who may have some knowledge about the incident write to me with what they know. Who know, maybe one day we can find the answer to what this was flying in the sky's around the AFB.

Brian: I read your piece on Rense.com about the 'Loring, AFB UFO Incident' during late 1975. I was a senior NCO stationed there at the time. My family and I had recently arrived at Loring from overseas. We lived in the officers' section of base housing on Foulois Drive.

I remember the incident very well because of two things: I was assigned to the 42nd Munitions Maintenance Squadron and my birthday was near the end of October!

At any rate, the 42nd MMS was the activity that maintained the weapons storage areas for both conventional and nuclear munitions.

I can't stress this fact too strongly - the nuclear WSA was at a location called East Loring which was about five miles from the main base. In Loring's heyday, East Loring was an annex of the base but by the 70s and later it was largely abandoned except for the WSA.

One night, very late, if my memory serves me, around 0030 or 0100, I heard a hell of a racket. That of a chopper without muffler, moving rapidly and I don't know from which direction and I did not see it, but I do know the muffled sound of a chopper's rotor blades - this thing was on steroids and moving fast.

This is the part that I can't verify but I do not believe Loring had any helicopters assigned to the base. To the best of my knowledge, all they had were the B-52s and KC-135s assigned to the 42nd Bomb Wing and two F-106 Delta Darts there as fighter protection (a fighter squadron detachment).

At any rate, it didn't take me long to go back to sleep but I did go outside and take a look to see if I could spot anything. I did not but recall it was very cold at the time, but no snow yet. The aircraft sounded like a flying Harley Hog, it was so loud. I do not believe a UFO would be heard!

The next morning when I went in to work at MMS one of my friends asked me if I had heard about the 'UFO' that had been spotted over WSA. I said no, but that I had heard a chopper go over base housing at about the same time.

I have always had a theory about this incident but could never find anyone else who thought the same - or just would not say. I do not believe that this was a UFO, that it was a Soviet chopper that had flown in from a sub or trawler parked off the North Atlantic coast.

I believe it was probing our defenses, circled around a while, and left. I think the brass knew this but felt that if it was revealed, it would be a big embarrassment.

Just my thoughts but after all this time, hard to prove.

Thank you to the gentleman for his report. Very interesting to get this information.

If anyone has witnessed the lights/objects, please send me an email with details of what you saw. Please remember to include the date and time and location. (Town/City – State or Province) and as much detail as possible.
